My Approach

I’ve been creating beautiful spaces for as long as I can remember. My early work in the arts shaped my eye for color, balance, and visual storytelling—while my background in economic development strengthened my ability to manage complex projects with clarity and precision. That blend of creativity and strategy is what allows me to guide homeowners through the design process with confidence and ease.

Thoughtful design should feel personal. Your home shouldn’t feel like a catalog or a template—it should feel like a true reflection of the people who live there. My process is highly customized: I listen carefully, ask the right questions, and design around the way you live and what matters most to you.

I often incorporate existing furnishings and collected pieces, blending what you already love with new selections to create a home that feels curated, timeless, and uniquely yours. The end result is a space that feels cohesive and elevated—without losing the comfort that makes a home feel inviting.

My Style

My design style is comfort-forward and elevated, grounded in clean lines, warm materials, layered textures, and timeless foundations. I create spaces that feel pulled together and intentional but never stiff, overly trendy, or “decorated.”

Above all, my work is personal. I don’t follow a single signature formula. Each home is designed around the people who live there. That might mean soft, natural palettes and calming textures… or bold color and playful pattern, especially in kids’ spaces where personality should shine. No matter the aesthetic, the goal is always the same: a home that feels cohesive, elevated, and unmistakably yours.

I serve homeowners throughout the Portland Metro area, including Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, and Washington County. Whether a home is newly built or rich with history, it should feel warm, welcoming, and full of life.

The Story Behind CJ Dean Designs

CJ Dean Designs is named in honor of my father, Dean, whose entrepreneurial spirit helped inspire my own. Building a business rooted in trust, service, and long-term relationships has always been the goal.  It is a privilege to create spaces that help people feel truly at home.

As a native Pacific Northwesterner, I’m continually inspired by the beauty of this region—its natural light, textures, and sense of calm. When I’m not designing, you’ll usually find me outdoors, exploring the coast, or hosting gatherings with friends and family.
